Founder Story.

I’ve spent my life in motion. As a child, I was always chasing something – friends, sports, or the next challenge. That drive led me to biomedical engineering, 20 years of product development at Motorola, and eventually to Life Fitness as Chief Architect and Senior Director of Cardio Engineering.

During my years designing the treadmills millions use to stay active today, I couldn't shake a growing realization: we were building cutting-edge hardware, but we were ignoring the most important data it could provide. We were measuring heart rate and calories, yet we were blind to the "summary score" of human health: functional mobility.

The treadmill hasn’t fundamentally changed since the 1950s. It remains a "dumb" machine that dictates movement rather than adjusting to it. I realized that if we could make the equipment follow the user – rather than forcing the user to move like a robot – we could unlock lab-grade diagnostics that were previously trapped in million-dollar motion labs.

In 2020, collaborating with the Biomechanics team at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, we cracked the code. We developed patented algorithms that transform the world’s most common piece of exercise equipment into a real-time diagnostic platform.

Today at IMPOWER HEALTH, we aren't just building equipment; we are eliminating diagnostic blind spots. We are turning passive hardware into an intelligent partner that helps users unlearn their bad habits and helps active adults protect their independence years before a decline begins.

At IMPOWER, we believe you shouldn’t have to chase. Your equipment should keep up with you, providing the intelligence you need to stay in motion for life.
